Remilo: Terms of Use
Effective date: August 3, 2026 Last updated: October 8, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Remilo mobile application, the Remilo website, and related services (together, the “Service”), operated by Lukasz Ferdyn (“Remilo”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account, installing the app, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Remilo is a spaced-repetition flashcard application for language learning. Core functionality — reviewing cards, scheduling, and study statistics — runs on your device and works offline. Optional features (account sync, cloud backup, AI course creation, premium subscriptions) require an account and an internet connection.
2. Eligibility and Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher) to use the Service. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the consent of a parent or guardian.
Accounts are created through our authentication provider (Clerk) using email, Google, or Apple sign-in. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity under it. You must provide accurate information and keep it current. One account per person; accounts are personal and non-transferable.
You may use the app without an account. Without an account, your data exists only on your device and cannot be synced, backed up to our servers, or recovered if the device is lost.
3. License
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial language learning. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse-engineer, or extract the source code of the Service except where such restriction is prohibited by law or covered by an applicable open-source license.
4. Your Content
“Your Content” means flashcards, decks, media, notes, and other material you create in the app or import into it (including Anki .apkg/.colpkg files and content synced via AnkiConnect).
You retain all rights to Your Content. We claim no ownership of it. You grant us only the limited license necessary to operate the Service: storing, encrypting, transmitting, and displaying Your Content back to you and your other signed-in devices, and processing it to provide features you invoke (for example, backup or sync).
You are responsible for Your Content. When you import third-party material — including shared Anki decks, dictionary content, images, or audio — you represent that you have the right to use it. We do not review imported content and are not responsible for its legality, accuracy, or intellectual-property status. If you distribute or share content through the Service, you must hold the rights to do so.
5. Interoperability with Anki
The Service can import Anki deck formats and interoperate with AnkiConnect. Anki is a third-party open-source project. Remilo is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Anki project, Ankitects Pty Ltd, or AnkiWeb. “Anki” and related marks are the property of their respective owners and are used only to describe compatibility. Your use of Anki, AnkiWeb, or AnkiConnect is governed by their own terms.
6. AI Features
The AI Course Creator and related features use machine-learning models to interpret your learning goals and assemble courses from our published dictionary content. AI features:
- may produce inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected output. Language content is reviewed at the pipeline level, but we do not guarantee that every generated course, example sentence, translation, or mnemonic is correct;
- are provided as a study aid, not as authoritative linguistic, educational, or professional advice;
- may be rate-limited by subscription tier (see Section 7).
When you submit free-text input to AI features, that input is processed by third-party AI infrastructure as described in our Privacy Policy. Do not submit content that is unlawful, infringing, or that you do not want processed by an AI service.
7. Free Tier, Subscriptions, and Payments
Free tier. Core studying, importing, preset course templates, backup, and single-active-device use are free.
Remilo Pro is an auto-renewing subscription unlocking premium features, which may include concurrent multi-device sync (up to 10 device slots), unlimited free-text AI course creation, and other features described in the app at the time of purchase. Feature composition of tiers may change; material reductions to an active paid tier will be communicated in advance.
Billing. Subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play and are billed by Apple or Google under their terms. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription state. Prices are shown before purchase and may vary by region.
Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal. You manage and cancel subscriptions through your App Store or Google Play account settings — deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Where law grants you additional refund or withdrawal rights (for example, EU consumer law), those rights are unaffected. For EU consumers: by starting the subscription you request immediate performance and acknowledge that, once digital content is fully delivered, the 14-day withdrawal right may be lost to the extent permitted by law.
Optional support payments (“tips”), where offered, are voluntary, non-refundable except as required by law, and confer no additional features or obligations.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
- upload or distribute content that is infringing, defamatory, hateful, or otherwise unlawful;
- probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or circumvent authentication, device-slot enforcement, entitlement checks, or rate limits;
- access the Service by automated means (bots, scrapers) except through interfaces we intentionally expose (such as AnkiConnect interoperability);
- resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service or our dictionary content;
- extract, scrape, or bulk-export our published dictionary content, course data, or curated language material for use outside the Service;
- interfere with other users’ use of the Service or with our infrastructure.
9. Our Intellectual Property
The Service — including the app, website, dictionary content, course templates, curated sense-pairs, examples, design, logos, and the “Remilo” name — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual-property law. Except for the license in Section 3 and your rights in Your Content, no rights are granted to you. Exporting Your Own cards (including to Anki formats) is always permitted; our curated dictionary content included in exports remains licensed for your personal use only.
10. Data, Backups, and Loss
The Service is local-first: your study data lives primarily on your device. We provide backup and sync tools (including optional backup to your own Google Drive), but you are responsible for maintaining backups. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss of data caused by device loss, uninstalling the app, failed imports, third-party services (including Google Drive), or your deletion of your account. Signing out preserves data on the device; deleting your account permanently erases your server-side data and wipes local app data (see Section 12 and the Privacy Policy).
11. Third-Party Services
The Service depends on third-party services (authentication, payments, content delivery, cloud storage you connect, AI infrastructure) identified in our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for third-party services, their availability, or their terms. Your use of a connected service (for example, Google Drive) is governed by that provider’s terms.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account in-app (Settings → Account → Delete account). Deletion is permanent.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, if required by law, or if continued provision becomes commercially or technically impracticable, with notice where reasonably possible. Upon termination, your license ends; provisions that by their nature survive (Sections 4, 9, 10, 13–16) survive.
We may discontinue the Service or features of it. If we discontinue the Service entirely while you have an active paid period, we will provide a pro-rata remedy where required by law.
13. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that learning outcomes will be achieved. Spaced-repetition scheduling is algorithmic and probabilistic.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or guarantees that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer law (including EU consumer guarantees for digital content).
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law: (a) we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, goodwill, or data; and (b) our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim or €50.
These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or death or personal injury caused by negligence, and do not limit your statutory consumer rights.
15. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you will indemnify us against third-party claims arising from Your Content or your breach of Sections 4 or 8. This section does not apply to consumers where prohibited by local law.
16. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Poland, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Warsaw, Poland. If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA or UK, you retain the protection of mandatory provisions of your country of residence and may bring proceedings there; you may also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform (ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr).
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. For material changes we will give reasonable advance notice in-app or by email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance; if you do not agree, stop using the Service and, if applicable, cancel your subscription before renewal.
18. App Store Terms
If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store, Apple’s standard EULA terms apply as required by Apple, including that Apple is not responsible for the app or its support and is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms. Google Play’s equivalent terms apply to Google Play downloads.
19. Miscellaneous
These Terms plus the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. If a provision is unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.
